It's that time of year again when the pressure to 'get crafty' is high in the blogging world.

I subscribe to quite a few blogs and am always amazed at the high standards of crafts that are posted.  Some - supposedly - are created by children!  Nothing like a totally gorgeous 'child created' craft to make me feel very inadequate.  However, I think the time has come and this worm has turned ...

I subscribe to a rather awesome Art Blog called Red Ted Art.  The lady is called Maggie Woodley and she has some beautiful creations on her blog.  One in particular caught my eye and grabbed my crafty streak by the scruff of its neck.  Easy Mini-Gingerbread Houses is classed as a 'kids craft' and was immediately deemed 'do-able'!

As well as looking fantastic, these looked particularly good to create as presents for the teachers.  We do like to try and make home-made gifts at this time of year and in the past have made biscuits and some rather 'Shrek' coloured peppermint creams - but it's the thought that counts right?  and they tasted better than they looked - honestly.

We had a practise run on Saturday.  I gathered all the ingredients together and with Joseph safely at football, Katie and I had a bash.  We were surprised at how easy it was (yes I know they are called 'easy' but sometimes it doesn't always ring true)  They actually looked like they were supposed to and, if you follow Maggie's easy instructions, you can't really go wrong.  What do you think?

For the gifts, we are going to use multi-coloured hundreds and thousands on the top and maybe a bit more icing on the 'roof' of each house.  Katie thought that the jelly-baby men looked a bit suspicious - so had to eat 3 to check they were okay!

I hope the teachers will like them, yes my controlling streak meant that I assembled the houses, but Katie decorated them!  I'm off to buy more ingredients now as my creative streak is flexing its muscles and Joseph has demanded that I  'make more please Mummy, they taste MEGA!'.  High praise indeed.
