My attention has been drawn to an Infographic detailing the thoughts of 6 year olds when asked a series of financial questions. Intrigued by this information, I decided to ask what Joseph (also 6) thought...

"I will be 40 when I own my own house" not a totally unrealistic start.

"The cost of my house will be about £1000" Hmm, not sure about this one.

"I will own a car when I am about 20 and I can pay for it when I work" on £50 a year, I'm not sure how he will get on with this!

"For my 18th birthday, I want a motorbike"  Daddy on the Edge nearly choked on his coffee at this point

When I asked him how much he needed to earn to be able to pay for everything, he paused before saying "Err, about a billion pounds?"

I was getting worried now so I asked him how much he thought he would earn at his first job "Ooh, about £10 a year" he said.  I reasoned that he would work up to the £50 a year he mentioned earlier...

“This data was taken from a recent financial report in which a selection of children from the UK were asked a series of pressing financial questions”.

I wish I was that young again. I get the jitters everytime my bank statement drops through the door!

Very nice! Although I think more than just 25% of 6 year-olds expect to own a car by age 12 :)

My 6 year old was more realistic and asked how old he would have to be to learn to drive before answering that one!
